DIY Affordable Wellness Shots

Updated: Aug 9

After an adventurous camping trip to Pismo Beach, CA, my kids and husband caught a mild cold when we got back home. We wanted to find a natural way to help them feel better without spending a lot of money on wellness products. That's when we thought of making homemade wellness shots.

We wanted to create a drink that was affordable, tasted good, and was gentle on the stomach. After some research, we decided to make a simple but powerful recipe using pineapple, ginger, and lemon. We chose these ingredients because they are known to help with digestion and overall health.

Ginger is great for easing nausea and stomach issues, while lemon is good for detoxifying the body and helping with digestion. Pineapple contains an enzyme called bromelain that also helps with digestion and reducing inflammation, which are common symptoms of a cold.

By making these wellness shots ourselves, we could adjust the strength and use the freshest ingredients. We stored the shots in small glass bottles, which not only kept them fresh but also looked nice. We made sure to keep them away from the kids and only put the shots in kid-friendly cups when they wanted to have some.

Making these homemade wellness shots wasn't just about finding a remedy; it was about creating a healthy and affordable solution that worked for our family. The simple recipe and the benefits of ginger and lemon helped us take care of my family's health and made our post-camping recovery a little easier.

Recipe

1 oz ginger

1/3 pineapple

1/2 lemon

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
